MAY is National Community Action Month

Community Action Partnership of Lake County (CAPOLC) is celebrating May as National Community Action Month.
A month dedicated to recognizing the success of the national Community Action Network that fights poverty across the United States. This month, Community Action Agencies are celebrating over 58 years of service in our communities. Community Action Partnership of Lake County will host our first Anti-Poverty 5K Walk since the pandemic on Saturday, May 21st, 2022. The day will begin with a Welcome by the CEO. Then participants will enjoy a morning of walking through the surrounding neighborhood. In addition, we will showcase our anti-poverty work during the month at our Health & Wealth Fair sponsored by Fifth Third Bank, May 18th from 11-2:00 pm; and our Report to the Community and Partner Recognition Reception, May 20th from 3-5:00 pm. Go to Events for more details.

WHY WE WALK:

Hot Meals Program: CAPOLC, supported through County and private grants, has provided over 63,863 hot
meals during COVID to individuals and families sheltered by PADS and A Safe Place. Our goal is to raise
enough money to keep the program going through the end of the year. Our immediate goal is to raise enough
to provide 700 meals per week.

Food Distribution: Since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, CAPOLC has served over 5,778 families
during the Food Giveaways, which served over 20,200 individuals. The need for the services provided is still
great. With the loss of income, many are continuing to suffer for the first time from food insecurity. We must
provide help and resources...and you can be part of the solution!

Join us for the 13th Anti-Poverty 5K Walk and help us raise awareness and money by walking individually or
as a group, fundraising by receiving pledges, volunteering, donating, and/or sponsoring. Proceeds support
CAP of Lake County's Hot Meals and Food Distribution programs
