2023 MAY is National Community Action Month

Community Action Partnership of Lake County (CAPOLC) is celebrating National Community Action Month in May,dedicated to recognizing the success of the national Community Action Network that fights poverty across theUnited States. Community Action Agencies (CAA’s) will celebrate over 59 years of service in our communities.

Proceeds will support CAP of Lake County’s Hot Meals Delivery Program for Seniors living in low-income housing:
1) Funding for the Hot Meals for Seniors program ends April 2023. We need funding to continuethis program in 2023. Currently, we provide an average of 150 hot meals per weekday to 4 SeniorResidences (Zion and North Chicago)
2) Purchase of a temperature controlled truck to transport hot and cold meals

Community Action Partnership of Lake County will host the following events:

• MAY 6—14TH ANNUAL ANTI-POVERTY 5K WALK - REGISTER TO WALK TODAY
Join us for the 14th annual Anti-Poverty 5K Walk and help raise awareness and money by walking individually oras a team. Walkers will enjoy a morning of walking through the surrounding neighborhood. Help us fundraise by receiving pledges, volunteering, donating or sponsoring.

• Report to the Community and Partner Recognition Reception—May 11th - TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW
We will celebrate the accomplishments of Community Action Agencies and Community Action Partnership of Lake County this year, as well as publicly recognize our local partners at our Report tothe Community & Partner Recognition Reception.

• Health & Wealth Resource Fair—May 19th (Vendor registration coming soon)
Community Action Partnership of Lake County will host this community event to offer the community valuable services and information. We are inviting companies and organizations to showcase their resources and programs that contribute to the wealth, health, wellness and well-being of the public.

• Poverty Simulation—May 23rd (Participant registration TBA)
The Community Action Poverty Simulation is a tool that helps participants rethink the challenges that millions of low income individuals must face each and every day. More importantly, this tool helps people identify areas of change that can directly impact the effects of poverty on individuals, families and communities.
